Welcoming Our Editor-in-Chief — Professor Dr. Rusli Daik

We are pleased to announce and warmly welcome Professor Dr. Rusli Daik as the Editor-in-Chief of the Chemical Technology and Engineering Applications (CTEA).

Prof. Dr. Rusli Daik is a distinguished faculty member at the Department of Chemical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He earned his Bachelor of Science (Hons, Chemistry) from UKM in 1993 and his PhD in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Durham, UK, in 1997. His research expertise spans polymer synthesis, nano-structured polymers, electro-active polymers, and bio-synthetic polymers, with a strong focus on applying polymers in opto-electronics, sensors, energy, and health sciences.

Prof. Dr. Rusli Daik has an outstanding academic record, having authored over 149 manuscripts in journals, 7 books, and 21 book chapters. He has delivered more than 50 invited talks across Malaysia, Asia, the Middle East, and the USA, and has received over 35 awards from national and international organizations. He holds 8 intellectual property rights in total.

He is a Fellow of the Akademi Sains Malaysia (2019), a registered Professional Technologist (Chemical Technology) with the MBOT (2022–present), Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM, 2022) and Fellow of the Malaysian Association of Solid State Science and Technology (MASS, 2023). He has long served as the Malaysian Representative to the Council of Federation of Asian Polymer Societies since 2012 and held the position of General Secretary of the Council of Federation of Asian Polymer Societies from 2016 to 2017. He is also an Associate Member of the IUPAC Cheminformatics Data Standards Standing Committee (2020–2021), Malaysian National Representative to the IUPAC Polymer Division (2024–2025), and current Associate Member of the IUPAC Polymer Division (2026–present). Additionally, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of *Sains Malaysiana Journal* (2020–present, WoS & Scopus indexed).

With his extensive experience and deep expertise in chemical technology and polymer science, as well as rich editorial experience, Prof. Dr. Rusli Daik is exceptionally well-positioned to lead CTEA in its mission to advance cutting-edge research in chemical process engineering, green technologies, catalysis, nanomaterials, and industrial-scale innovations. We look forward to his leadership in upholding rigorous academic standards, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthening the journal’s role as a premier platform for research that bridges fundamental science with practical industrial applications.
